On October 5, 2015, LCCTC lost one of the best teachers to ever work here, Ms. Jeri Palumbo. Ms. Palumbo wasn’t just a great teacher, she was a Peer Leader adviser, a mentor, friend, sister, and a mother to some. She was also a great example of how a leader should be and should act. In a calm, professional mannerism, she handled everything thrown her way. She took the time to process events and problems and what was to be done about it. In short, she was amazing.
Ms. Palumbo is everything I hope to someday become. She was confident and intelligent; she knew everything. Students could confide in her, and she seemed to already know what was going on and how she can help. She held such a confidence that made me believe that she had the ability to do anything and everything. She PROVED to everyone that she could do whatever was given to or thrown at her.
When asked to complete a task, Ms. Palumbo worked her hardest to ensure that the task was done and done well. Her level of commitment was beyond comprehension. This woman lived and breathed peer leadership, her classroom, LCCTC. She dedicated her life to students; LCCTC was her pride and joy. By example, she showed each student how to strive to be the best person we can be and she never give up. She demonstrated how to be a positive influence inside and outside of the classroom.
Ms. Palumbo affected every student, and staff member at LCCTC in a profound way. Ms. Palumbo’s favorite quote was by Dr. Seuss, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” and I think I speak for everyone when I say that we’ll smile because Ms. Jeri Palumbo happened to us.
