Bob the Builder Visits Ellwood ~ by Kalley McClure

Bob the Builder made a guest appearance in the Ellwood City Parade that took place on Saturday afternoon, December 5th.

One of LCCTC’s very own, Jonathan Organ, helped build the Bob the Builder costume while working with Blank Concrete. He’s been working his co-op job with Blank Concrete since June of 2014, making small parts for forms or trucks and general mechanics, as well as doing a lot of welding and grinding for whatever needed to be done for the company.
When asked what was one of the greatest lessons he’s learned since working with Blank Concrete, he told us that it has helped him learn what life outside of school is going to be like and it has given him a better understanding of responsibilities. After he graduates, he plans to continue his work at Blank Concrete as a truck driver.

Blank Concrete and Supply Company was established in 1904.  It is a family-held, closed corporation operating out of Ellwood City, PA.

What does it take to work at a company like Blank Concrete?  "Heavy doses of honesty, communication skills, and dedication are vital for any job,"  remarks Mr. Blank, Corporate Treasurer.  "You must be a team player and have good communication skills."  Of all that he listed, his biggest requirement is ATTENDANCE.  "Don't think for a moment that I don't call schools or former business; I do."  He also states that it is vital to prove to a company that a person will not only do a good job; he or she must also be present in order to be a part of that company -- a representative.

Jonathan got dragged into working on Bob the Builder after already being in New Castle’s Light Up Night Parade. They figured it would be a cool idea to have him do something for them, too. It was a good experience, and he’s glad that he was able to have such wonderful coworkers and friends to assist him in this project.
