Walking for a Cause

Ms. Palumbo, beloved Lawrence County CTC teacher for 42 years and Peer Leadership advisor from the very start of the organization, would say this almost daily: "Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened."  She had such a beautiful personality -- BOLD, STRONG, and always the very definition of "professional." She was loved and cared for.  She was admired and respected  Though some of us have never had the chance to call her our teacher, her legacy remains.

...and her legacy lives on.

The Peer Leaders of Lawrence County CTC have established the Jeri Palumbo Memorial Scholarship to honor her life.  Generous donations have been collected and these funds will help students continue their studies after high school -- one of her passions in life.

Another passion in life was walking.  When the weather wasn't conducive to taking a brisk, purposeful stroll outdoors, she could often be found winding her way through the mile of hallway we have here in the school.

What better way to pay tribute to her that to walk for a cause?   On Thursday, April 28th at 1:15, we will join together for a 5K walk/run.  Typically, there would be an entrance fee for a "race" like this, but this time, it will be free for all who participate -- although donations to the scholarship will be welcomed.

Students can sign up during lunches, and t-shirts are available for $10.

Anyone who would like to make a donation can do so by making a check made out to the Lawrence Community Foundation.  Indicate in the memo:  Jeri Palumbo Memorial Scholarship.  Checks are to be sent to Lawrence County Career & Technical Center, Peer Leadership, Att. Entry Fee:  NO FEE to participate in the race but ANY donations will be accepted.

All donations for the race and proceeds from t-shirt sale will go to the Jeri Palumbo Memorial Scholarship.

Walkers, joggers, and runners of all levels are encouraged to participate.  Ms. Palumbo walked nightly and this is a great way to remember her, have some fun, and increase personal fitness as well.

Awards will be given to the top three males and females in each category: 10^th grade, 11^th grade,  12^th grade, and top runners over all.
