Kolo-Jay-Check ~ by Shelby Leasure

Ms. Kolo warming up to Paige Lane on some down time

Everybody grows up, and growing up is a pain because of the pressure we put on ourselves to have an answer to the question, “What do you want to be?”

As we grew up, we were always expected to know what profession we wanted to pursue. For many of us, we answered with an enthusiastic reply:  “Astronaut!”  “Princess!”  “Garbage Man!”  Most of us have changed our desired vocation, but for LCCTC’s newest addition to the team, her answer was simple:  “Gym Teacher!”

Since kindergarten, Ms. Elizabeth Kolodziejczak has aspired to become a Physical Education teacher. Her biggest inspiration was her own PE teacher, Mr. Miller.

Ms. Kolodziejczak, pronounced “Kolo-Jay-Check,” grew up on a farm in Hammond Sport, New York. She attended Hammond Sport Central School for her entire high school career. Ms. Kolo graduated high school in 2012, with her aspiration to become a physical education teacher in full swing. Ms. Kolo strived for her dreams, and attended Slippery Rock University. During her time at SRU, she student taught in Ireland, along with one of LCCTC’s math teachers, Bradley Windhorst. After earning her major, Ms. Kolo graduated from Slippery Rock University in May of 2016.

Ms. Kolo has other interests along with physical education. In her free time, she enjoys playing basketball and running. She also enjoys walking her two dogs, Paisley and Chloe. Although she was class president and homecoming queen in high school, she’s not afraid to get her hands dirty; she recently invested in a house for only $18,000, and every day, she works to gut and remodel the existing structure into her dream home.

It’s easy to see that she loves her job. In fact, she states, “I just love moving, I can never sit still.”

Ms. Kolo really likes the LCCTC students. “They’re different," she smiles. "Everybody is different, and everybody does their own thing.”

Overall, Ms. Kolo feels that she’s definitely made the right choice working with the students and staff at Lawrence County Career and Technical Center.
We're head over heels for Ms. Kolo!
