A Real Treat: Celebrating Herold's Successes in the Ring ~ Felicity Weir

“When the show is over, whether you’ve won or lost doesn’t matter. As long as you’ve gone home with the best dog, everything’s fine.”
~ Pat Tetrault

While she takes part in the sign language club and is active as a Peer Leader here at Lawrence County CTC, our very own Alexis Herold humbly forgets to mention to us some of her great achievements outside of our hallowed halls:  Her successes at dog shows!  I believe she (along with her accomplishments) deserves some recognition.

Alexis, a member of the German Shepherd Club of America, and her dogs work together as a team in the show ring. Without her training, these dogs would just be ordinary; without her canine friends, Alexis wouldn’t have any use for her training skills. Together, they are a highly skilled team.

Recently, Herold and her three German Shepherds earned three International Championships at the Eukanuba Hall. Additionally, she has received several Canine Good Citizenship titles with four German Shepherds and a King Charles Spaniel. She later returned with her German Shepard, Leo, to successfully compete again earning the duo a Canine Good Citizenship Advanced!

In addition to her work with the local fire department, she also traveled to Camp Perry, Ohio to compete in a National Rimfire Civilian Marksmanship competition and placed forty-second in the nation. With her family, her parents are both LCCTC alumni, she also enjoys running specialty 5K races such as the Color Run and the Terrain 5K (obstacle course). In her “spare time,” she works at McDonalds.

Alexis plans to continue training and showing dogs, and her goal is, one day, to show at the Westminster Kennel Show.
In the meantime, Alexis is beginning to train her dogs to help others.  She is currently working towards a TDI (therapy dog) certification so she can visit hospitals and nursing homes.
When she graduates, she would like to go to college for NICU Nursing; she plans to work as a Veterinary assistant while in school.

Though many of our students here at LCCTC are actively involved in many different activities, it’s an amazing thing to see a young student lead such a productive life. Alexis is an excellent example to her peers. Students and staff of LCCTC and other community members can take great pride in knowing such a motivated, dedicated, disciplined young lady.

“Those who teach the most about humanity aren’t always human.”
~Donald L. Hicks

Alexis has done so much already, I believe I speak for everyone when I say we are all eager to see what she has to offer next. Her passion and love for dogs is evident in her success. Her work as a peer leader and other activities are proof of this young woman’s drive and dedication. Altogether, Alexis is an outstanding example of exactly what we do here at LCCTC..

Whether Alexis is in school or simply leading her outside life, today and every day,
She is here…
She is ready…
She is respectful…
She is safe…
