Teacher Veterans ~ Kylie Smith

Mr. Deporzio served with the Marines from 1988 - 1992; he selected this branch because "Marines are the toughest." He feels honored to serve the United States and tells us that by joining the Marines, you gain a sense of patriotism, loyalty, and maturity. When asked how can others can honor veterans, he responded “Thank them for their service and for being true to our country.”

Mr. Zayas joined the marines during the Gulf War; as a result, he earned his high school diploma. He states that the Marines “made a man out of me." When asked, "How can others honor veterans?", Z states, “Respecting what they did and how most sacrificed their lives for what we have today.”

Mr. Miller joined the Army to serve his country and continue his family tradition. By joining the Army, he was able to afford the opportunity to study as a machinist. Of his experience, he stated, "The most important thing I gained out of the army was self-discipline.” When asked how others can honor veterans? He affirms, “Americans should remember the sacrifices others made for our freedom.” He also states that “people should remember and celebrate Veterans Day because most people tend to forget what others gave up for our country.”
