A Man of Surprise: Meet Mr. Petronelis by Kalley McClure

Mr. George Petronelis, while he’s new to teaching, has been a welder for over 25 years. His goal as a teacher is for his students to grasp the basic concept of welding and to become gainfully employed in a career that will allow them to live comfortably. He finds teaching challenging but exciting.

Originally from the Laurel, this welding teacher later went on to NCTS to do get his degree in welding and is currently attending IUP for his vocational education certificate. Before coming here, he worked at General Electric, Velocity Equipment Solutions, and Pertola Packaging.

In his free time, he enjoys hunting, camping, fishing, blacksmithing, and hanging out with his family. He is a father of three children, two sons (Jordan and Jacob) and one daughter (Jenna). Some of his favorite foods are steak and sushi; he likes listening to 80's punk rock.  On Sundays, you could find him watching The Walking Dead.

He has traveled to Las Vegas and Wyoming; next March, he'll be making a trip to the Bahamas. While in Wyoming, he climbed some of the Teton Mountains! I bet that made for some awesome memories.

If you ask him about the best bit of advice he’s ever received, it would be from his former boss:  “Anything worth doing is worth doing well.”  We wish Mr. Petronelis the very best as he strives to do just this!

Kalley McClure was born and raised here in Pennsylvania; her home school is New Castle. Seeing a better opportunity here in LCCTC, she decided to switch, choosing Collision Repair as her shop. She says her grades have improved significantly, and despite missing her friends, she does not regret switching. Outside of school, her time is usually spent talking to my friends and doing church activities, which she is actively involved in. She hasn’t given much thought to her life after high school, but the military is definitely something she’s looking at. Kalley is a member of the Journalsim Club.
