On May 16th, one-hundred seven students from Lawrence County CTC, a little over a quarter of the student population, boarded the buses and headed to Pittsburgh. Why? They earned this opportunity through the School Wide Positive Behavior program!
What is SWPB? Each time our school hears the morning and afternoon announcements, they are reminded of the basic tenets of SWPB: "As you go about your day, always remember to BE HERE, BE READY, BE RESPECTFUL, AND BE SAFE." Directives might include, “Be focused”, “Have a good attitude”, “Respect personal and school property”, and “Follow emergency plans.” These are great reminders wherever students go in life, but for for following these tools of behavior in school, they are given this extra-special privilege.
As a result, students who not receive a discipline referral the 1st month of the past grading quarter were awarded the opportunity to attend the Pirates game; the cost was $7, which included a tour of scenic Mt. Washington, the game at the award-winning PNC Park, a complimentary Pirates cap, and lunch!

Oh yeah -- and the Pirates won, 3-2!
A great day was had by all!
