EO Helps Keep Us Safe ~ Shelby Leasure

Recently, the first-year Electrical Occupations students went out on the job -- in our own backyard!

Their task:  To run the wires needed to hook up new security cameras for the building.

This "real-world-experience" helps build true skills for our students, and the new security cameras will improve the safety on our campus!

"These cameras are so good,"  comments Officer Preisel, "that they can read the due date on an inspection sticker!"

At LCCTC, ours are connected to the computer network and records the comings and goings of just about every inch of our campus.  If we have troubles, we can go back to the cameras and, nine times out of ten, we are able to identify the source.

The campus security cameras are also linked to the New Castle Police Department and can be remotely accessed at any time of the day.  Earlier in the year, the EO shop's second year students finished rewiring and replacing all of the lights around the building, as well, so these renovations not only save us money, they keep our school safe.

Often used as a deterrent to mischief, these cameras make people stop and think before they act, because if they DO act, they're likely to be caught.

Thank you for helping keep us safe, EO!
