LCCTC's Ugliest Christmas Sweaters

Who doesn't love a good old fashioned ugly sweater? I know I do!

On Friday, December 18th, seniors were invited to wear their ugliest sweaters, and boy did the ugly come out!

WHAT! AN UGLY SWEATER DAY?

Yes you've heard it here first! And LCCTC had some of the UGLIEST sweaters known to mankind, Hideous! They'll go down in history -- and not in a good way!

Want proof? You've got!

Caution: These sweaters may hurt your eyes!

Robert Geitner & Josh McCrumb -- rocking their sweaters in Construction Trades.
Makaila Holsinger (HA) -- That sweater is ugly enough to land you on Santa's (Matt Tataseo, Mas) naughty list!

Nikki Miller (CA) and Savannah Harris (Cos) provide pointers on how to wear the ugly sweater in Civics.
Robert and Maxine Alexander (Mas), work the ugly sweater in high fashion!

Samantha Amon (COT) tries to focus on her physics and on the loud pattern of her sweater.

Presley Boots (CA) points out the photos on the SkillsUSA bullettin board.  What an overwhelming pattern! ...the sweater, that is.
Kaitlyn Wright, HA shows off her ugly sweater with her ugly friends on the stocking while Matt questions her status on the nice list.

Jeri DeNome (HA) only said, "It's snowing!" two times today.  Two or three flakes don't really count, Jeri. ...and nice photobomb, Savannah!

Nolin Marcus (COT) argues the benefits of Santa for president.

Peanut Butter Cookies ~ Samantha Amon

I absolutely love Peanut Butter; I could probably eat it on almost any food. When I found that there was a such thing as Peanut Butter Cookies, I was madly in love! These have become my go-to cookies for the holiday season.

Ingredients:
½ cup of Sugar
½ cup of Brown Sugar
½ cup of Butter (softened)
½ cup of Peanut Butter
1 egg
1 ¼ cup of Flour
¾ teaspoon of Baking Soda
½ cup of Baking Powder
¼ teaspoon of Salt

First, start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Second, gather all the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt) and combine them in a bowl.

Next, it's time for your wet ingredients (eggs, softened butter, and peanut butter) to be mixed in a separate bowl.

Carefully add both bowls of ingredients together; the dough should be silky smooth.

Finally, we're going to make cookies. You'll start by rolling the peanut butter cookie dough into a ball. Next, with a bowl of sugar off to the side, we're going to use a fork and criss-cross sugar on the top of the cookie.

Make sure your cookie sheet is coated in a non-stick spray. When placing your cookies, they should be two finger spaces apart

Allow them to bake for 10-14 minutes. Once they are cooled you have a delicious cookie to munch on, OR you can take it one extra step and place a Hershey Kiss on top of the still warm cookie and have a Blossom!

Gift Guide ~ Kaitlyn Wright/ Makaila Holsinger

As the holiday season creeps closer and closer, the anxiety of what to get your best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, or family begins to peak, so I went around the school to ask students what they would consider a good gift for this holiday season!

"What makes girls happy?" was a question I was asked by my boyfriend while he was shopping for me for Christmas. My answer was this: I like warm, cuddly, fuzzy, warm things like fuzzy socks or maybe even a comfy sweater. Of course, a gift giver can never go wrong with make-up, jewelry, or perfume.

My next question: "What do I buy for a guy?" My boyfriend may be difficult to buy for, but I have a few ideas; he likes to hunt, fish, and play video games, so maybe he'd like a video game that combines these hobbies! He also likes to watch sports on TV so, maybe a new jersey for him. You can't go wrong with cologne or bath wash -- I wonder if that's a gift for him, or would I benefit more from spending time with someone who doesn't smell like deer scent?

You may be pressured to spend a lot of money, so just keep in mind that it is the thought that counts. If you don't have much money, write your loved one a poem. If you you play guitar, write a song. It'll mean a lot more than you think! OR -- simply spend time together enjoying a bowl of popcorn and a Christmas show (check out ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas).

"Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values." -Thomas S. Monson

Chocolate Chip Cookies ~ Sam Amon

I don't know about you, but I love Chocolate Chip Cookies, so when I make them, I make a lot! They remind me of Christmas Eve as a child, plating one of every cookie for when Santa comes with the present. Then, later in the night, sneaking downstairs to see if he has come yet, only to see the gifts are already there and the cookies and milk are already gone.

Ingredients:
2 ¼ cup of Flour
¾ cups of Sugar
1 teaspoon of Baking Soda
¾ cups of Brown Sugar
Q teaspoon of Salt
1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
½ cup of Butter (softened)
2 eggs
½ cup of shortening
6 oz of Chocolate Chips

Start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

Next, gather the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt) combine them in a bowl.

Afterward, gather your wet ingredients (eggs, vanilla extract, softened butter, and shortening) and combine them in a separate bowl.

Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until the batter turns into a smooth tan mixture.

Next is the fun part, folding in the chocolate chips. (HINT: Stirring the chocolate chips, as opposed to using an automatic mixer, can stop them from breaking)

Have your cookie sheet spread with nonstick spray. Using a spoon, form your cookies on the sheet, making sure they are at least two fingers spaces apart.

After they bake for 10-14 minutes, pull them out and allow to cool. Once they are cooled, grab a huge plate of them, a tall glass of cold milk, and enjoy!

'It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge". -Albert Einstein

Over the past two years, you have opened my eyes to a world that I have never seen. You have made my years at Votech the most memorable years of my life. The first day of my 10th grade year, I wasn't too sure about you. You made me nervous and anxious about your class. I thought I was going to have to write so many papers! You are my best friend now.

I asked the Eagle staff what they thought I should put in this article. They had asked me to say that you are an amazing person. You have changed our lives forever. We want to thank you for everything you have done for us. We are now amazing people and better writers. You have prepared us for whatever happens in life, whether it be when we go to college or when we have children. We will be ready no matter what.

We will always have you. Thank you McVick. We love you!
