On January 6th, 2016, Cosmetology seniors went out and job shadowed six different salons in the Lawrence County Area! The salons the seniors attended were: Famous Hair, Studio 175, High Voltage, The Hair and Nail Gallery, Shairy's Salon, and Divine Designs by DeWayne.
Cosmetology students spent eight hours visiting, as well as communicating, with salon owners and employees. Every senior present was able to compare the salons and what made them one different from one another.
As the seniors asked questions, they learned what it felt like to be a salon owner or a salon employee. The salons taught the seniors that, while they may be scared to start working at a salon, but they will soon learn the most important lesson: confidence.
As the owner of Divine Designs would say, "You have to go through the tough times to get where you want to be".
Owning a salon is more work than anyone can imagine; some think its easy to start up a business, but they soon find out that owning any business can be filled with trials. However, in order to be successful, you have to first be willing to try.
